SINGLE REVIEW: Scene Queen Slays the Scene with Single "Pink Rover"

Let me open up first and foremost saying that I am normally a hardcore metalhead, but this track that just dropped from emerging Hollywood artist, Scene Queen (real name being Hannah Collins), is a straight-up banger! Being just under two minutes long, “Pink Rover” is her shortest single to date. This is the third single total that Scene Queen has dropped with Hopeless Records. The lyrics are heavily inspired by how women feel about sexual harassment. We as women do not deserve to be disrespected by gross men looking for an ounce of attention. As the chorus states, “please send the coward over, and if the bastard whistles put a knife up to his boner, cut him.” Catcalling and harassment of any sort will absolutely not be tolerated. “Pink Rover” had its own TikTok challenge showing how women celebrate their self-empowerment, and it went viral!

Scene Queen has a very blunt approach to the lyrics of this song. The instrumental has a solid crunch and is a genius choice to back up her spoken word approach to this song. In the music video, Scene Queen has an actual scenic setup where she acts as part of a cult. That side of the instrumental delivery I could easily compare to Disney World’s own Hollywood Tower of Terror, which is inspired by the show The Twilight Zone. When the band kicks in for the instrumental it is as aggressive as when the tower drops you down from a total of 199 feet high.

I predict that when Scene Queen releases an album it will have the perfect blend of metalcore, punk, and myspace era vibes; making me excited to hear more from her self-created genre known as bimbocore. Go and check out her official video down below and comment with your own personal thoughts as well. "Pink Rover" is now available on all streaming platforms!
